Below are some of the places they can go to. Decide which would be the most suitable for each person.

Kate
Kate wants to improve her English over the summer to take her final exams. She wants to be near London. She loves rock climbing and swimming. She needs to improve her vocabulary and listening skills. She would prefer the option of living out and would like organised excursions.
Diego
Diego wants a summer camp that offers hiking and mountain biking. He wants to improve his English and German but he does not want lessons every day. He would like a camp where students sleep in cabins. He would like the camp to be just for boys.
Sofia
Sofia wants to do lots of walking, horse riding or cycling, but she would also like to visit London and go shopping. She wants to take an English exam to get into a UK university. She would prefer the camp to be for older children. She wants to stay for a minimum of 8 weeks.
Mateo
Mateo wants to go to a summer camp where he can practice English, but not have formal lessons. He loves windsurfing, although he is a bit scared of the sea. He would like a place that serves vegetarian meals.
Makar
Makar wants to stay at a place for three weeks where he can look after animals. She wants to improve his English with a private tutor and also get the chance to go out to see the country. She also needs to be careful with what he eats.

A The Lakeside Summer Camp
A summer school with a difference. You sleep in special waterproof tents near the lake. Daily lessons in English, French or Spanish, and then you are free to go on hiking trails with our experienced guides, or to the local stables for pony trekking across the hills.

A great way to learn English without the usual classroom hours. All activities are in English. Plenty of variety with outdoor activities, and our great lakeside setting is perfect for our full watersport programme. We cater for special diets.

C Cambridge Activity College
In the English countryside. This is an activity/English centre where the emphasis is on exam preparation for students aged 12-18. After your 3-hour exam timetable, you choose between horse riding, cycling, walking or tennis. For over 16s there is a special “be free” programme, allowing trips to London and/or the seaside. Courses from 2-10 weeks.

D The Valley Activity Summer Camp
While we offer accommodation, many of our students choose the option of living out, with local families. Great exam preparation classes, taking into account your special needs. We also offer the best climbing walls in England and sports facilities include a pool and tennis courts. Excursions over the weekends are included in the booking fee.

E Beach Activity Camp
A great way to spend summer days with the added bonus of no formal English classes. All learning takes place by doing activities. It’s the perfect place for tennis and football fans. Plenty of chances to get out into nearby Margate with its lively cafes and its great beach.

F Language and Activity Cabin Camp for boys
A great way to enjoy the freedom of nature whilst improving your language skills. Accommodation is in cosy cabins. Daily activities include mountain biking, hiking across the local hills and swimming in our lake. Languages (English, French and German) and classes are held 3 days a week.

G Happy City Summer Camp for girls
A great place for girls to improve their English while learning new activities, like dance, cooking and painting. There are also sailing lessons on our very own lake! The camp is in the grounds of an animal sanctuary just North of London. London shopping trips are standard, so don’t forget to bring some spending money.

H The Sanctuary
Students can choose to care for one animal for their complete stay, which may be from one week to eight! Students choose how they want to learn English, and there are opportunities for private lessons with our experienced tutors. Lots of chances to see England. Special diets provided for and choices of single or double rooms.

Kate: D — Why D is correct: Kate has several specific requirements, so this is a matching exercise where we need to find an option that satisfies the combination, not just one detail. She wants to improve her English in order to take her final exams, so exam preparation is an important clue. Option D explicitly offers “great exam preparation classes”. She also wants to be near London, and D provides organised weekend excursions, making it a strong match for someone who wants organised trips. Kate loves rock climbing and swimming, and D offers climbing walls as well as a pool. Finally, she would prefer living out, and D says that many students choose to live with local families. In other words, D matches her exam preparation, climbing, swimming, accommodation preference and organised excursions particularly well.
